Additional information: Around 1895 Julia’s family migrated from Beruit, Lebanon to Cuba. Julia was born in Alexandria, Egypt on route to Cuba, where the family settled in the small town of Bejucal, thirty kilometres from Havana. The family left Cuba for Australia and New Zealand on 27th August 1910. Julia describes in her diary the reasons for migrating to Dunedin
